In Australia, our country has literally been divided on state lines for most of the past 12 months. Western Australia is keeping their hard borders, Queensland changes its mind at short notice, South Australia seems to favour anyone not from Victoria, and Victoria doesn't seem to know what it's doing. As the state with the most rules still in place, Victoria recorded no cases for the fifth day in a row, yet the Premier sought and received an extension for their state of emergency powers until the end of the year.
The conduct of Premier Daniel Andrews and (non-elected) Chief Health Officer seems to stand in stark contrast to the words of Jesus in Mark 10.
And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Do not lord control and authority, but rather serve.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I can't help but wonder whether at the 'end' of this pandemic (if indeed it will ever 'end'), governments and politicians who have taken so much power in the name of protecting us will relinquish the decision-making process back to us, the individual. The ultimate beauty of the Gospel message is not only what Christ has done for us, but that we get the choice in deciding whether to follow Him or not.
Wouldn't it be nice to again have the ability to make a choice.
In response to the 'outrage' regarding the newly-released Sex For Children book, Koraly Dimitriadis writes that simply because children have the ability to access countless hours of pornographic material, they should read this book. I repeat myself when I say I have no idea why these people want 10-year-olds to learn how to perform blowjobs.
Big W, popular department store in Australia, has decided that a book encouraging children to participate in sex, written by Yumi Stynes and Dr Melissa Kang, should be on their shelves. I will never understand why these people think that children ought to be taught explicit sexual content, tips, and techniques.
Make the logical and coherent argument to me that children need to be shown and taught this.

One of the more strange weeks in Pride Month 2023.
A teacher in New Zealand was deregistered for refusing to use the so-called 'preferred pronouns' of a student.
Children as young as 12 are able to change their gender on their birth certificate without any treatment whatsoever.
And apparently penguins are gay, and they're great role models for teaching children as young as 6 about sexuality.
What a week.
